چکیده

We present a decision support system for flood early warning and disaster management. It includes the models for datadriven meteorological predictions, for simulation of atmospheric pressure, wind, long sea waves and seiches; a module for optimization of flood barrier gates operation; models for stability assessment of levees and embankments, for simulation of city inundation dynamics and citizens evacuation scenarios. The novelty of this paper is a coupled distributed simulation of surface and subsurface flows that can predict inundation of low-lying inland zones far away from the edge of the flooded area, as observed in St. Petersburg city during the floods. All the models are wrapped as software services in the CLAVIRE platform for urgent computing, which provides workflow management and resource orchestration.

Identification areas with inundation potential for urban runoff harvesting using the support vector machine model

Rainfall-runoff from urban areas is one of the available water resources, which is wasted due to lack of attention and proper management. Besides, urban runoff excess of drains capacity causing many problems including inundation and urban environmental pollution. Therefore, harvesting this runoff can provide a part of the required water in urban areas, and also reduce flood and urban inund...

Simulation of Flood Inundation of Guiyang City Using Remote Sensing, Gis and Hydrologic Model

This paper illustrates an example of developing a grid-based distributed hydrologic model for storm-inundation simulation using GIS and remote sensing for flood emergency planning, and the feasibility of the model was explored in the mountainous urban area of Guiyang city of the Guizhou Province, China. The research was based on four major steps. The first step was to prepare data for the model...

Developing an effective 2-D urban flood inundation model for city emergency management based on cellular automata

Flash floods have occurred frequently in the urban areas of southern China. An effective process-oriented urban flood inundation model is urgently needed for urban storm-water and emergency management. This study develops an efficient and flexible cellular automaton (CA) model to simulate storm-water runoff and the flood inundation process during extreme storm events. The process of infiltratio...
